Trajectory is an important lesson in Biblical interpretation within context. An example follows.
Young Christians, and those misled by others, who read that any admirer or disciple “worshiped” Jesus (honored him, e.g. Matthew 2:2, 8, 8:2, 9:18) might suppose that believers no longer are intended to worship and pray to almighty God (the Father of Jesus) as in the Old Covenant. These developing souls worship and pray to Jesus. We must have patience helping them understand God’s plan and trajectories.
For example, in the Old Covenant too men appeared to “worship” men of God, such as Ornan worshiping King David (1 Chronicles 21:21), or King Nebuchadnezzar worshiping Daniel (Daniel 2:46-47). Jesus tolerated this honor as he understood his disciples worshiped God his Father–the one and only ultimate God—- operating through him. Isaiah 45:22, 46:9. He also tolerated it because his purpose for such glory was several fold.
By such God iin-the-flesh glory (distinction) he aimed to draw draw man-worshipers to him (John 12:32) away from other men worshiped as gods or God, such as Greek and Hindu men claiming to embody gods and God, Roman emperors claiming to be gods or God, or worshiping Buddhas, etc.—then up close and personal as his disciples, Jesus revealed his Father is “greater” than him (John 14:28, recall also, Jesus is inferiorly subordinate forever, especially the future, see for example 1 Corinthians 15:24-28, Hebrews 13:8) . Jesus explained his glory (distinction) was intended to add and enlarge to the glory of his heavenly Father: “Glorify Your Son” Jesus said—–but why?—“…that Your Son may glorify You” John 17:1. That is one primary purpose for Jesus appearing as God Almighty in the flesh, for it would help draw and save men from destruction later.
This is further supported by many other Scriptures, such as Romans chapter 1:18-32 (…about disapproved minds as the object of God’s “wrath” who “…became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image like corruptible man…and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator…”)
This trajectory, which is like an eagle swooping down to deliver babies from other birds of prey and with them ascending to safety, is also intended by prayer. In John chapter 16, Jesus prepares his disciples for days ahead during his physical absence after crucified and after his resurrection, when his disciples would be put “…out of synagogues (as occurs today when on feast days Jesus is preached therein)…” also when “…who ever kills you will think that he offers God service (like former Orthodox Jews, equapolitheist trinitarian Catholics, misled Muslims, etc.) …And in that day you will ask me nothing…whatsoever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.” John 16:1, 4.
The trajectory then has never been to draw supreme worship from God the Father in heaven to the Son on earth or Son in heaven. The trajectory has been to draw all man-worshipers, as at Greece, Rome, and elsewhere, to Christ and from him intimately to the supreme God of the heavens and earth. This trajectory was missed by the early Catholic Church, who in years and by their immature councils have drawn focus for worship down from a sovereign supreme single God, down to worshiping a man who from Christ’s words should not bear the title Pope (father). The reappearing Son will not be seeking for himself the supreme worship due to his Father controlling the cosmos, not even as an equal, and he especially will not be calling any unmarried and childless monk, priest, or Catholic “religious” leader a “pope” or “father.” See Mathew 23:9.
It is not that we have from God’s Word in Holy Scripture become anti-Pope, it is the Pope has become anti-Christ through disobedience.
Let us not follow in disobedience.
“…having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.” Ephesians 1:9-10.
The Messiah’s teachings through Judeo-Christianity is like a hub in a spoked wheel or umbrella, it has some qualities in common with every culture, philosophy, and religion in the world today.
For example, some might say the Messiah’s teachings resemble Hindu yogi or Buddha, or the balancing teachings like the Chinese Dao, or monotheism like Jews or Muslims. There is mention of “many gods” (1 Corinthians 8:5) like found in Greek and Roman polytheism and pantheism.
Apostle Paul did as he was taught from our Messiah by the Holy Spirit in this regard.
“For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that might win the more; and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law (torah), as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; to those who are without law (torah), as without law (not being without out law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some…” 1 Corinthians 9:19-22.
From loving devotion to our Messiah, while it might at first appear tolerated to worship the Son as God, the Son up close and intimately directs his closest disciples to instead worship (love) supremely and sovereignly his Father, Who in the Old Covenant was known intimately and spoken by Jesus (Yahwashag) as Yahwah. Deuteronomy 6:5, Matthew 22:37-39. We begin then to also understand how worshiping any creature of a womb or flesh or animal is to be abolished the closer we get to God through His Son (Romans 1:18-25), no matter how “tolerated” it may first be when young or not knowing (as indicated from Acts 17:30 ” ….Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent…”)
